About High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is the leading cause of premature death and cardiovascular disease worldwide. An estimated 1.28 billion adults aged 30–79 years worldwide have high blood pressure with less than half of adults (42%) being diagnosed and treated. Despite numerous treatment options for high blood pressure, only 1 in 5 adults (21%) with hypertension have it under control.

About Blood Pressure Treatment Calculator

The blood pressure treatment calculator is an interactive tool developed to estimate the average blood pressure lowering efficacy of antihypertensive medications and their combinations. The calculator was developed from a systematic review and meta-analysis of placebo controlled double-blind randomised clinical trials from the manuscript “Blood pressure-lowering efficacy of antihypertensive drugs and their combinations: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised, double-blind placebo-controlled trials”. This calculator serves as an online data supplement to the manuscript and should not be used for clinical practice.
